From October 12 to 14 2022, Professor Elie Karam from our team and the chairman of the WPA Epidemiology and Public Health Section, is organizing the 19th Congress of the WPA Epidemiology and Public Health Section in Marrakech, Morocco. 

Since 1967, the WPA Epidemiology and Public Health Section has been unique in putting famous experts from all over the world in unique settings with thematic programs, where exchange of opinions and experience are the name of the game. The broad perspectives of epidemiology and public health during these meetings touch on all facets of mental health, encourage international collaboration and critically examine how much humans actually look alike and how lessons learned from one site in the world can be generalized to people everywhere. This will be a memorable experience on many levels.

On Thursday October 13, 2022, Professor Karam will be delivering a plenary session titled: “The Beirut Port Blast: Can we predict PTSD?” as well as a talk titled: “A close look at PTSD in Childhood and Adolescence: The role of childhood adversities and sensitivity” which will be presented on the same day during the Symposium "Child Trauma and Mental health: Understanding Mechanisms and Pathways".
