Dr. Georges Karam, Adult & Geriatric Psychiatrist at MIND gave an interview for Annahar where he discussed suicide in stressful times.

He focused on the following important ideas:
- Mental disorders are strong predictors of suicidal behavior 
- Stressful times and economic crisis can lead to depression which can lead to suicidal behavior
- A person who commits suicide considers death as a way to end his pain and suffering
- 1 in 4 persons in Lebanon will have a mental disorder at some point in their lives but only 1 in 10 persons with a mental illness will seek help. It is important to raise awareness on the importance of seeking help to prevent suicide
- If you are feeling suicidal, reach out for help (professional help, family support, …)
- Before sharing news, check if they are true and if they might be stressful to others so as not to spread more anxiety around you
