Dr. Aimee Karam, Adult Clinical Psychologist at MIND, completed the first part of the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) training and certification by the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Center (OCTC)/ FIONA KENNEDY, OXFORD, UK from June 18-22, 2018 in Oxford, UK. She will be completing the second part in December 2018 and offering this service at MIND.
Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of psychotherapy which is based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), but has been adapted to help people who experience emotions very intensely.
DBT is based on four modules: core mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. They are designed to specifically assist individuals in better managing behaviors, emotions and thoughts.
